Solid so far but not without setup hiccups,
After a few rounds with Q-See support we determined the root cause, which the camera by default came shipped with the default pledge set to 2048×1536. This pledge was apparently incompatible with the NVR UI of my model. When we switched this to a lower setting like the standard HD setting of 1920×1080 all was well. So even as it took a few iterations with support before it got escalated to pledge I am satisfied with the overal support experience. (This was the second time engaging them over the last link years)
Some things to consider before purchasing:
•Support for the Mac is poor. Luckily I have a vmware image hosting Windows 8.1 so that I could use Internet Explorer to connect directly to the camera to distress shoot. The web service front end requires installation of a Windows only compatible plugin. Q-See must drive for better device software independence for the camera UI and align more with industry standards like HTML5 for better interoperability.
•The default admin password is different from the standard QC series cameras that come with the original NVR. To resolve this you need to make sure you add the camera as a remote camera, manufacturer = ONVIF OR connect the camera to your internal network and change the password directly through the camera UI.
