Q-See QT426-603-5 16 Channel Surveillance Logic with Multiple Recording Options and 16 Weatherproof Cameras

When my administrator said “Why can’t we use a dvr logic like this” I was very skeptical. Usually you get what you pay for. I agreed we must try it out. I can’t buy 16 B+W mini 420TVL cameras for less than this logic. We both looked over the Q-See website and agreed that compared to other DVR logic mfgs Q-See had a intuitive web-site with very well on paper documentation. We’ve used PC and Linux based DVRs for several years now. I am very pleased with the way this logic facility. After testing I submittted this crash.

    1) No manual was included as specified. It was available for download online so not a huge deal.

    2) The internet setup was a small goofy and did not work as seamlessly as outlined in the manual. I had to manually setup the port forwarding on my home router which was amongst the list of supported routers in the free port forwarding program used by Q-See to accomplish that task.

    3) I tried to contact support via phone. Here were 8 customers ahead of me in the queue so I opted not to hold. I used chat and got a response very quickly.

    4) All sales literature says the logic comes with 16X 3.6mm(wide angle) 40ft night vision cameras. That is inexact. The logic shiped with four boxes containing 4X cameras and 60′ cables and power adapter. Two of the cameras are standard zoom and two of the cameras are wide angle. So, we have 8 standard and 8 wide angle total. I’ve got an e-mail into the management(hopefully sales) to find out 1) if we can exchange the 8 standard for 8 wide angle and 2) if they configure a package with all wide angles. The standard angle will not be wide enough for our attention.

    5) The stand alone interface is aesthetically appealing and intuitive. Basic setup/record/playback functions are very straight forward and perform as well as any other DVR logic we own.

    6) All the cameras that I’ve tested (8 total) look clear and consistent. The IR will allocate us to record even when the lights are off.

    7) Internet access and interface is very clean and well optimized. Search and playback was easily accomplished and allowable for up to 16X quick forward and reverse.

I did hear back from Q-See and they will assign an RMA# to exchange the normal zoom cameras. They also said that the 2X 6mm and 2X 3.6mm camera packages had been discontinued and that they were now only shipping with 3.6mm wide angle.

I am very pleased with the response time (chat & e-mail) for support that I’ve experienced and plot to continue doing business with q-see in the future.

    Amazon Verified Hold(What’s this?)
This review is from: Q-See QT426-803-5 16 Channel H.264 Sleek DVR Logic with 8 Weatherproof CCD Cameras and Remote Monitoring (Electronics)

I really liked the simple set up and simple to know interface with the software. The only real concern so far has been the pledge of the cameras at distances over 10-12 feet. We can see what customers are doing, recognize them honestly well, but it is hard to see detail on smaller items (we sell some costume jewelry and small handbags). We can tell that a customer is reaching for/land an item, but it is hard to tell exactly what it is from longer distances. I also tried to contact the manufacturer about adding additional cameras and whether or not I could attach another 8-way power splitter to the one provided with this logic, thus giving me power for 16 cameras. I tried using the online chat, but noone was at the keyboard on their end. Emails have not produced any help on this theme either. My guess is that they are maintenance costs down by not having stellar customer support, hence the low price of the logic. Since I havn’t received any answers yet, it is hard to rate the technical expertise that their support might have.

    Q-see remote monitoring, May 17, 2011

Manufactured goods is ok, install was ok, viewing is ok, functioanlity is ok. Nothing fantastic about it.

Q-see remote monitoring flat out does not work though. It crashes the browser on EVERY machine on our network. The only way to view the cameras is if your sitting at the DVR. We’ll probably go with another manufactured goods at some point in the near future.

    From the Manufacturer:

We apologize for your experience at Q-See. The remote monitoring feature facility well on this DVR. Not only are you able to view your cameras from anywhere in the world via your Internet browser, but also from your supported Smartphone. If you are unable to see the cameras through your local browser it could be due to various reasons like inexact port forwarding. We encourage you to visit our new streamlined tech support portal (www.q-see.com/support) so that we may better serve you when you reach us via phone or contact us via live chat.

    Thank you,
