Excellent Logic, but motion detection feature needs work,
I did not hold this from Amazon, but got it from Sams Club online as a bundle for $499.00 (QC814 NVR, 4 x QCN7005B IP cameras, 4 x 100ft ethernet cables, accessories. Used this logic for three months now, so very familiar with all. Experimented alot to learn and optimize the settings.
Here is a rundown: (long review, but just want to pass along info I experienced)
– QCN7005B is really a Dahua IPC-HFW2100S rebranded as QSEE. Has a 3.6mm lens which gives a wider viewing area (about 65-70 degrees).
– NVR is also a Dahua model rebranded as QSEE.
– Two separate power supplies plug into the NVR. One for NVR and one for the cameras. Here is no power switch on the NVR.
– Must shutdown/reboot NVR from console menu. To powercycle cameras need to remove power plug.
– Anroid cell phone remote viewing: Use “Q-SEE QC View”, or “Dahua gDMSS Lite” from the Playstore. Both do the same thing and work very well
– FREE DDNS service. Utilize this to in the least access your router (via unique name) even if the IP address changes – it does work
– You can also record streaming video directly to your cell or take a snapshot -saves video to your SD card
– Tons of customization settings: (schedule, scenery mode, motion/continuous recording)
– Emailing snapshots, ftp all facility ok (too many fake alarms forced me to disable emailing snapshots)
– Motion detection is a huge bonus feature. Saves disk space, records before, all through and after movements. [more later on this]
– “Region Filter” is used to ignore motion sensitive areas (ie moving undergrowth, trees) – doesn’t work very well
– “Overlay filter” allows you to “black out” an area so you cannot see it. (i.e. place a black square over your neighbors windows so you can not see that area)
– Automated email alerts on hardware tribulations [low disk space, disconnection, video masking, motion]
– Adjustable video pledge / streaming rate
– Customized schedules to make possible motion detection/recording..etc
– Motion detection, the best feature, is problematic. Constant fake alarms, which leads to hours of unnecessary recordings
– Many times, the “motion detector” gets wedged in a loop, and causes continuous recording for as long as 30min
– As I review recorded video due to “motion detection”, nothing is moving in the video, and no changes in lighting. Even had QSEE tech support remote into the NVR to check for themselves, and they had no answer.
– The motion detection will trip on changes in lightning (i.e. sun gets brighter/dimmer). As I look at all my fake motion detection videos, lighting changes are seen in alot of them.
– Camera facility perfect indoors. Never a fake clock radio, other than lighting changes (i.e. room gets dimmer/bright due to lighting thru windows in room)
– Was able to minimize outdoor fake motion alerts by maintenance the daytime motion sensitivity at setting “two”
– From what I have experienced, it’s not a real motion detector, but rather a “before/after” image equate
– “Region Filter” is not very accurate. Motion Detection still occurs even if motion detected outside the filter
– On the bright side, it has detected/recorded every person that has walked within range of the camera.
– Night Vision is very excellent. Able to see my yard in 100% darkness, and picture/video is clear
– Night time motion detection won’t detect motion unless sensitivity is 4 or privileged. (tested it many times with different sensitivity settings).
– So, everyday, I manually set the motion sensitivity to four all through nighttime, and two for daytime. – irritating
– NVR password is only six characters. – very terrible!!
– Menu settings in NVR do NOT match the same setting as those menus in the web browser.
– Here are three ways to connect/configure the setup:
a. Web Browser: Configure the NVR and cameras. Use Ip address of the NVR (be sure to use port 85)
b. Directly connect to NVR via mouse/monitor.
c. Connect directly to the cameras. Connect your laptop to an open PoE port on NVR, and enter in the camera’s IP address into the laptop browser. (the camera IP addresses initiation out at 10.1.1.128). You will than get a browser view for just that camera. (fascinating view as compared to the view via the NVR). BTW: This is not the preferred method, whereas you must access the camera via the NVR IP address, but I went directly to the camera out of anxiety.
Tribulations I ran into:
– Cables in the box were wrapped tightly in clearwrap and pressed tightly against the cable locking lever, and weakened them. Could not lock the the ethernet cables in the sockets – kept slipping out. Did an RMA replacement – same problem.
– Using the…
