Customer Video Review Length:: 7:30 Mins
The Q-See QTN8044D IR Dome Camera is solidly built, coming in a weatherproof metal housing with a polymer based dome covering. With 30 IR LEDs (850nm wavelength) to light the night, it boasts a 100’ night vision range. My test showed this range to be honestly accurate. The camera is designed to fit within a QSee NVR base security camera logic, but contains the electronics and software to be standalone. This allows the camera to be added to most security camera systems. With 4MP pledge it beats most security cameras on the market and provides privileged than 1080p pledge on the video feed. With a field of view of anywhere from 24 to 81 degrees it covers a wide area. I was a bit disappointed to learn it does not have a pan to zoom capability (horizontal and vertical movement). It was very simple to set up, but.
Access to the camera in standalone mode is via a web browser, which links to a software download and install java based plugin that allows you to configure the camera. The port to use in the URL (85) and default username/password (admin/123456) is buried in the manual, which comes on a CD provided with the camera. I also installed an app on a Windows Phone to view IP camera feeds and was able to connect using the rtsp protocol with no problem. Here is a software tool to identify the IP address of your camera on the CD as well, but it does not work on Windows 10 so I had to use my router’s connected device list to determine the IP address assigned via DHCP. You can set up a permanent IP address easily through the browser interface once connected.
The camera has excellent range with the 30 IR LEDs, high pledge and is easily configured. The 100’ ethernet cable provided is also shielded and weatherproof. Remote access from anywhere in the world using any number of camera registration services or recall your external IP address (will require using a dynamic DNS service) is simple.
Because of the high pledge camera, you can hold a longer wavelength privileged power IR light which can mount anywhere in the area and get up to 300’ of coverage.
Another plus is that camera comes with lifetime free tech support. But, I called the tech support line and hung up after being on hold for over 15 minutes.
I am giving this manufactured goods four stars because I reckon the manual could be better. Manual is on CD provided and online, no printed instructions are included. Setup was honestly simple for my husband, but he has 20 years tech experience. For the average person, the manual could have been more informative and laid out better. Also, I marked it down because of the lack of ability to pan or zoom camera. For the price I thought this feature must have been built in.

A challenge to get working but it does work well.,
After you get everything hooked up you can allocate the camera to be assigned an IP address or assign one to it using the IP Tool software from the CD. Their Control Center program in complicated at best. But you can set up/ map out your logic adding each device you have and look at them individually or all collectively at once. You can turn off the live feed, snap a picture or record a video. The video’s can be stored and retrieved later.
I like that this camera can be used outdoors rain or shine. The views are clear, far and wide enough to see a lot. The ability to see at night to me is the best benefit though. But I don’t reckon this camera is very practical for the average person. It takes some time to make it work. But if you know what you are doing it would make a fantastic camera for any logic whether you use QSEE’s programs or not.

requires an NVR to work **photos**,
Mounting and installing the camera itself was too complicated for me, with all the various cables, screws, & such (see pic2). So I had my brother do a temporary install by my office entrance inside. Video clarity was excellent at daylight and when room was well lit. As far as night vision, it’s excellent up to 20 feet and dimmer at more distance. I’ve only tested this indoors so can’t speak of its weather-proofing.
Recommended.
