5/25/15 – Manufactured goods Update
I’m moving down my initial review to 3 stars. The HDD died on me once (covered under warranty) and the user interface is a bit clunky. The iPhone App facility well still. The QR Code Scanner on the app was broken for a link versions of iOS 8, but is now working again. But, I noticed more latency using the QR setup vs setting up the IP address manually. I want to see a better user interface for the NVR, but everything else facility well.

Excellent Camera Logic,
Packaging:
Cameras came packaged well, lots of padding. Here must be no hurt issues in shipping.
Instructions/Software/Setup:
The instructions left a small to be desired since here really weren’t any. The cameras initiation working with the DVR nearly instantly if you have them plugged directly to the DVR. The DVR software is clunky and it seems a quick software redesign would really help. Even with the clunkiness of the software I was able to map most features and setup out quickly. And no I am not a computer person. The DVR has an HDMI port so I was able to get the video output to my TV easily. Using the scan code option to set up the logic with the smartphone was a breeze. I did not have any issues with port forwarding or anything like that. I was able to get the smartphone app working quickly for iphone, ipad, and android. The smartphone apps for apple and android have a slightly different layout, in person I like the android version a small better. The apps let you do live view, playback, make video clips and snap photos of footage.
Camera Installation:
The hard part is routing the wires. Once that is done the cameras are pretty much plug-n-play. The one Philips screw on the camera allowable me to adjust the camera to any angle I needed. The cameras have a large plastic cable splicer pre mounted in the camera cable. This gives the camera the ability to plug into a separate power source than the cat 5. The splicer is huge and can get in the way depending on how much space you have in the wall. Mounting the camera did not go so well, I had too much extra wire when I place the screws into the wall and punctured the camera cable on two cameras. One screw just went through the cat 5 and was simple to fix. On the other camera the screw went through the cable just before the splicer the camera and I was not able to repair it. Qsee customer support did not have any sympathy on me either nor do they sell just the camera wiring harness. I bought a 4megapixel to replace it, oh well. The new camera is a better camera anyway.
Image quality:
Image quality is fantastic. Affect is fantastic. Night vision is very excellent as well, although to camera will pick up a lot of dust particles flying around too. The night time LEDs glow a dull red at night so the cameras might be noticed by a thief who is looking hard for cameras at night. Everyone who has seen the cameras on my TV or phone has been impressed.
Overall I am very pleased with the logic, now I want to add more cameras to the logic, maybe in the jump. I would have given it a 5 star, but the software and apps could use a small improvement and that splicer thing really got in my way all through installation.

looks like and ancient Dos version,
onboard Interface is a small getting use to and clumsy, looks like and ancient Dos version. Be nice if it was more use friendly and had more settings like showing 6 cameras instead of 8. Since the unit came with 6 and the viewing option is only 1, 4 or 8. When I set to 8, here’s permanently someone who’s questions what happen to the other 2 since they are black.
R & D must send out questionnaires on how to improve, it free and will cost Q-See nothing especially to improve here manufactured goods.
Setup was not as terrible as some peoples posts I’ve read, need to have some basic knowledge of networks but with the provided QR code scanned by an apple device we everywhere up and viewing quick.
Although wireless mouse is not an option, I found a 30foot USB and HDMI cable that I utilized, allowing the DVR and cables to be someplace else rather then in the place you view from. I recommend plug everything in before mounting to make sure it facility, had one terrible camera (no power) out of 2 full systems. Contacted Q-see and they replaced straight away with a new camera. Fantastic manufactured goods for the price, given them a 4 star.
